Bloody Rose Gun
The Bloody Rose is a magical anti-vampire gun used by Zero Kiryuu in Vampire Knight. It was given to him by Kain Cross so he could defend himself; however it can’t harm humans. Made from a special metal, it is silver colored with wood grips. The barrel has words etched on the top, Crossing Danger, and on the sides, Danger Bloody Rose. Though the gun was created and styled by the author, it seems to have been influenced by the design of the .45 Colt M1911 and the AMT Hardballer Longslider.
While the appearance is mostly the same in the anime and manga, the barrel is longer in the manga than in the anime. The chamber is specially made for silver anti-vampire bullets, but it can also fire regular bullets. In the anime, It can also fire special blood-tip bullets. The gun usually rests in a shoulder holster underneath Zero’s jacket. It also has a long chain which often attached to Zero’s clothing in some way, however he will occasionally remove the chain to provide freer movement.

At the end of the first arc, after Zero gains the full amount of his Hunter power by drinking his twin, Ichiro’s, blood, the Bloody Rose reveals another, deadlier form. It becomes a part of Zero, feeding of his blood, while giving him control of what appears to be a gigantic, metallic, flower less, rose bush. While in gun form, the Bloody Rose shoots off a purple symbol which hurts vampires. The shots are quite deadly, with the ability to kill normal vampires with one shot and severely wound pure bloods. It also has a special attack in the second arc called “Beast Thorn”. The Bloody Rose was created in the time of the progenitors of the vampire race. All the Hunter weapons, as well as the Hunters themselves were created by the same person, The Hooded Woman. She wanted to help the humans fight back against the vampires, her own race. She gave her blood to a particular group of humans who wanted to fight against the vampires; those who survived drinking became the first Hunters. While the Hunters got her blood, the weapons got her heart, which she threw into the vat of molten metal from which all the weapons were made. By doing this, she also (probably unintentionally) transferred her conscious to the Bloody Rose gun, which explains why Kaname was able to talk to it and live when Zero wanted to kill him.
On the cover of the first manga, Yuki is featured with the Bloody Rose, however after her vampire side is awakened, the gun rejects her touch.
When Zero was a student, he only carried the gun while he was on duty, after he became a Hunter, Bloody Rose never left his side.
